Armor Suits

Armour Suits Armour or armor suit is a protective clothing specified to defend its wearer from intentional harm in combat and military engagements typically related with soldiers. These finished suits provide best and right protection from arrows and blows that a warrior could obtain in battle or seeking glory. Only counting the chest, arms and back area of suits , they weigh around 20-30 pounds. They also include helmets covering the face and neck area of body.

History
In the historical times , substantial factors in the development of armour suits are economical and technological necessities. Initially , plate armour appeared in the Medieval Europe and in the European history, well-known armour types include the lorica segmentata of the Roman legions, the mail hauberk of the early medieval age and the full steel plate harness worn by later Medieval and Renaissance knights. In East Asian history laminated armour such as lamellar, coat of plates and brigandine were commonly used.

Design
Some armor suits are decorated and embellished with eagle beak patterns and other designs which have been confined now a days , as decorative collection. Beginning with hides, leather and bone, armour suits have been used throughout history , moving on towards bronze, steel and other modern fabrics such as Kevlar, Dyneema and ceramics.

Usage
Armor suits find its usage in several applications such as : Adorned armor suits with rich inscribing and brocaded detail add beauty and distinction to the homes. Wearable armor suits are ideal for re-enactments or sword play. Also used to protect war animals such as war horses and elephants.

Characteristics
Some of the features included in armour suits in the ancient and modern times are :
  • During 15th century, most parts of the human body had been fitted with specialized steel pieces, worn over linen or woollen underclothes and attached to the body via leather straps and buckles.
  • Constituent parts of armour suits are helm, gauntlets, gorget or 'neckguard', breastplate, greaves worn on the lower legs and back of the knee.
Personal armour
These modern personal armour suits are divided under two broad categories:
  • Ballistic : Now , bullet proof robes are made up of ballistic cloth (e.g kevlar, dyneema, twaron, spectra etc.) and ceramic or metal plates common among police forces, security staff, corrections officers and some branches of the military.
  • Non-ballistic : Ballistic armour is much less impervious to poking weapons unless they are augmented with anti-knife or stab armour . Riot police are usually equipped with non ballistic armour against blows.
Leather armor as decorative piece
Today, the use of armor suits has been confined to as a decorative collection. They are often adorned with rich engraving and embossed detail and add beauty and distinction to the homes. Leather armor suits have become popular as decorative pieces o adorn your home or other commercial areas. Leather suits of armor is great for re-enactments or sword play.
