Breast Plate refers to a plate of metal covering the breast as
defensive armor. A handsome and rugged armor, breast plates often have
rounded edges genuine leather straps, steel buckles and solid metal
accents. They do not have a metal back and are held in place on the body
with four leather straps with buckles. Two over the shoulders, two
around the waist and two under the arm pits. They were designed and served to protect the warrior's chest, just as the choker that was usually worn with the breastplate protected his neck. The breastplate carried spiritual significance.
