Helmets form an essential part in completing a suit of armor. They are
a piece of armor, usually made of metal that are specially designed to
protect the head. The early French helmets usually were made of full
brass. The ornate crest used to be richly embossed with the Imperial Eagle in front, capped with a finial and topped off with a black horsehair brush. Scaled chinstrap ties were knotted with silvered wire. Helmets were used without front badges and the colours were horizon blue or horizon blue overpainted with olive green.
