Bayonet refers to blades adapted to fit the muzzle end of a rifle and
used as weapons in close combat. Originally, the bayonet was made with a
handle, which required to be fitted into the bore of the musket after
the soldier had fired. Italian bayonets often have steel blades and
usually marked on the back-edge with the arsenal, month and year of
manufacture.The bayonets are available in a number of variations, the basic model comprising of: wood grips, held on by two flush screw/nut sets; short crossguard, no muzzle-ring; steel pommel with push-button/internal-spring latch arrangement. The blades of the bayonet are single-edged, single-fullered (both sides), saw on back-edge and the ricasso is usually marked with the manufacturer's trademark.
