Dagger is referred to as a hand weapon with a short blade and is a
special stabbing weapon that could be used along with the sword. This
weapon and its sheath are often elaborately adorned. Known for its
metalwork and weaponry, Spain boasts of beautiful handcrafted products.
Symbolizing powerful kingdom, the Spanish daggers were used primarily
for parrying and breaking the rival's rapier. Therefore the dagger had
round cut-outs in the blade under the quillon, possibly two fork spikes
in which the rival's blade could be caught. It was customary to secure
it from, accidental loss by a guard-chain fastened to the breastarmour. The daggers are often the replica of original used by the famous military and religious order that fought against the invading Moors in Spain during medieval times. They also serve as excellent collector's items and beautiful functional pieces. Designed for display, reenactment, sword play, the Spanish daggers are beautifully detailed and handsomely-articulated. The Spanish dagger with a thumb-ring was distinctively the weapon of professional soldiers.
